Other methods of tying the 1 strand star knot can be discovered by playing a little with the ABoK #591 and with the knots presented by Ashley as Butterfly knots (ABoK #2448 - #2457…) (based on Chain Sinnets #2871 and #2868) and trying to double them.
ABoK #591 is very nice indeed (as it is)!

…
We have to mention ABoK #1396 (The (“Probably Original”) Star Knot Turk’s Head)!
Maybe Harrison discovered his method by studying Ashley’s diagram (or by untying the knot)!
But Harrison’s method is easier than Ashley’s diagram!
(Did Harrison mention Ashley in his book?)

In the “Harrison Book of Knots” the author states concerning the single strand star knot “This is an original knot and was developed by the writer. It has never before been seen in print.” The book was published in 1964.
…
ABoK #1396 was there! (printed in ABoK!)
Harrison’s method is (much more) easy but follows the path of Ashley’s diagram!
Maybe Harrison discovered it independently, but ABoK #1396 was there!
or maybe it is hard to notice Ashley’s diagram, I haven’t noticed (and tied) it until 3 days ago!
