"Essential Knots", "by", "the IGKT"

Amazon is advertising a soon-to-be-available book on knots “by the International Guild of Knot Tyers”.

http://www.amazon.ca/Essential-Knots-Step-Step-Situation/dp/1594854858

Whose project is this? What are the objectives?

I did a cursory search of the IGKT web site, but found no mention of this project. “Cursory” is apt, so I may have missed it.

I see that your Amazon URLink is to my northern neighbor, Canada;
Amazon.com has --for “essential knots”-- something with a similar,
though different (by days)
publication date, a like-named book,
to wit:

http://www.amazon.com/Step---Step-Essential-Knots-photographs/dp/1844767841/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1280502414&sr=1-2

This is N+1th Budworth book, likely a re-presentation of past pages,
with perhaps some new photos (maybe not). – to be seen.
I note that its size in pages is given as 96, not 144.

Ah, looking further (there are just so MANY “essential” knots books!),
I see the OP-cited one, but with a date (ha, we lucky Yanks!) of October.

VERY interesting is seeing what publisher: Mountaineers Books, publishers
of Clyde Soles’s [u]The Outdoor Knots Book (who I don’t think can
claim IGKT standing). !? – very interesting (as Clyde’s 2004-pub’d book
hasn’t been put up for revision yet) !

Well, well, these will be interesting books to see, esp. the OP-cited.
Stay tuned!

So, is there any Guild imprimatur on the use of its name as the author of this book?

If so, where is it documented?

I think we can infer that the apparent Guild authorship somehow
arises from incomplete information provided to the Amazon system
– no real name, just some apparent credential, and … that shows.

Watch & wait.

The original publisher from whom Mountaineers Books bought the work is aware of this incorrect IGKT attribution and is contacting Mountaineers to have the error fixed.
