It’s simply to do a Gleipnir first and then this Hot Cross Knot.
It wouldn’t be worth doing it most of the time, because it will add significantly to the cordage used, but when you find that you can’t keep the crossing in the right place as you turn the package over, then the Gleipnir allows you to firmly fix the first encirclement before applying the second at right angles. You simply do your Hot Cross Knot on the two strands on the reverse side instead of one (making it even more secure).
