Tarred Lanyard

Here is a lanyard that I made over the weekend using tarred cord.

I have to say that it was a real nightmare to use! When cold, it was like working with steel cable. However when it got warm from being held it became more pliable, but the tar would make it a filthy dirty task.

It was also my intention to put a Matthew Walker knot in it, but the tar just made it so sticky, it would lock the cord before it looked neat and tight.

OK, I know a lot of people recommend washing the cord first which gives it a lovely silver finish, but I just wanted to see what it was like in the “raw”.

Oh forgot to say I am also missing the top layers of skin from my fingers!!!

Lovely piece of work, you’ve given me an idea for a dog lead thanks

Don’t forget to show your dog-lead on here when you have completed it.

Here is one that I made from Blue Colourline
