technical advice on "stabilizing" mats!?

Dear All,

Any suggestion on how to “stabilize” table mats?

I am doing a couple of carrick and ocean plait table mats, and I am looking for a solution to make sure the knots don’t “move” when finished!?

Appart of sewing the knots, I was thinking about coating the under part of the mats with epoxy? any other idea? experience?

Thanks for your assistance!

Yann (french knot tyer based in Egypt!)

I use one of these anti-skid pads. No need to coat the mat in any way. Cheers, Tony

I personally use a finishing solution of 50% PVA (wood glue) and 50% water mix. I some cases I dip the whole item into the liquid and for larger pieces I coat with a paint brush.

If you actually do a search on this forum there is a whole section on finishing solutions.
