any tautline hitch knot like this?

sorry for my first post being a request, but, well, you know how it goes. sigh. meanwhile …

i’m looking for a tautline hitch-type knot where, instead of having to pull pack on the knot itself to achieve tautness, you can pull back on some kind of standing end or a loop of some sort. possible? this knot will be used to secure a handle on a stand-up-paddle board that’s used in the surf. loosening the line is no problem. but tightening it back up under sometimes chaotic circumstances is difficult when you have to grip a knot instead of grabbing an end or a loop.

so … know of anything like this?

Hi Linter and welcome to this forum.

You don’t say what your handle is being attached to but I would try a Prusik knot - with 4 wraps if you are attaching to a smooth pole, 3 for attachment to a rope. This will self tighten when you pull the loop though if attached to a pole may slip when tension is released. See Animated Prusik.
