Thought I would start a fresh thread about the bell-ringer’s knot (after the original “bell ringing knots” thread).
I work with a stagehand who also happens to be a change-ringer. His version of the Bell-Ringer’s Knot is not at all like ABoK 172, rather it’s what I would describe as a Munter Hitch/Crossing Knot around the coil, with the coil laying over towards the horizontal.

Turns out it has come in very handy at the theatre this week, as the current show involves several lines from above that need to be quickly stowed off the deck. The attached photo shows the application. I would say it’s easier and quicker to tie and untie than ABoK 172, and perhaps able to hold more of a coil - even when tied in that nasty kernmantle line the show provided.
