Well here’s the completed dog leash after a month of trying to finish it. Damn work, always in the way… LOL…
It was well worth the wait. Awesome job Brian.

Brian at work. LOL
Yep that’s how I feel most of the time now. After 12yrs of being in the I.T. Industry that is how most will come to be. When I retire, I think the only thing techie I will have is my leather tools, a Mac and 1 PC for editing videos and photos.
That little guy is really going to town w/his hammer. When I found him (Smiley Central) he wasn’t going as hard. LOL
Really like the leash!
Thanks for the kind comments Rick. Between you, PJ, and Hooey, I might just begin to believe that. LOL…
Brian…
Don’t take their word for it…that is one awesome leash dude!
Any self-respecting canine would be proud to go “walkies” in that!
No flea-bitten dawgs allowed.
You do have a dog … ? ;D
Why thank you all for the kind comments. No I don’t have a dog a present. I have a very busy life style at the moment. So, I am only stuck doggy sitting other peoples dogs at the moment. I can hope for one, or two some day.
Brian…
NICE!
What have you used as a core for the round-braided part?
I made a leather leash for our little (6 kilo) mix-breed dog a couple of years ago from 4-braid on a thin synthetic cord core. Not one of my more successful projects, the leather in the braiding gradually stretched and bunched up close to the hand loop. Looked like… Well, let us just say I did not keep the leash…
This one makes me want to make another try.
Lasse C
The core is a 4 - 1/4" strands of scrap roo hide. I used that because of the Pecards leather dressing that was applied to the leash itself upon completion. The leash itself, I used smooth calf skin lace from Tandy. I bought that stuff about 2yrs ago and it finally came in handy. 6 individual strands at 38ft long. I am working on another dog leash and have it at just about half braided. This one is a Gaucho braid of 8 strands, no coring and measures 40ft of strands. This leash is for one of them really tiny dogs that you can hold in the palm of your hand. So the braid is thinner and does not require a core. Same type of lace is being used. When done, the leash will be about 6 to 6.5ft long.
Brian…
I thought it looked more a purse handle… ;D
