Dragonfly variant

I tie a lot of dragonflies mainly with kids but also with blind and partially sighted adults. The “standard” dragonfly is made from Solomon Bar but here is a variation. The thorax and wings are made as usual from Solomon Bar but the abdomen is made using this technique developed by JD of Tying It All Together (this video I find easier to follow - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGrTDdrO7H8). This gives a narrower but more rounded solid body and is no more difficult than Solomon Bar with a little practice. The cord shown in the photo is 3mm hollow braid polypropylene - if using 550 paracord it may need to be “gutted” to look its best.

Edit: looking at the back of this dragonfly it may be more realistic than the ‘front’.
