Digging: a 130 cm x 4 mm piece of braided polyester: basically a “do something with my hands” item. Then there is an USB stick, with a semi-decorative knotted loop of bright yellow paracord: a couple of matthew walkers and a two strand diamond. In need of replacing with something actually decorative. Hmm, either a purely decorative key-fob style thing (decorative), or a soft shackle style thing (practical)?
As it happens I changed my jeans today (for a clean pair) and had to empty the pockets. Aside from wallet and change I had:
1 length of paracord (approx 2+ feet) and 3 other shorter bits of probably polypropylene cord;
1 pocket knife
a double ended s-carabiner with some sold steel rings and a couple of small steel thimbles attached (in use in the garden yesterday and naturally just shoved in my pocket afterward)
Other items - just the conventional stuff (handkerchief etc).
Few carabiniers , sawdust and keys now; many times add all in one phone/wallet to complete.
Go on a trip or watch TV, many times a few feet of cord added.
I usually carry a small batch of misc. cordage,
predominantly the now ubiquitous pull-tape
(in 1200# & 1800# sizes, lengths from 2’-8’),
which get used for tying up various found objects,
and so on.
well my credit card survived the flaming by the magnetic resonance imaging machine last month,
it works fine;
in the old days the magnetic strip would be prone to damage by scratch or, apparently, magnetic field,
but anyway it seems the card chip is m.r.i-machine-proof,
all good !
