thank you

Here’s a link: http://www.olypen.com/elgato/ballnets.htm

Not very detailed instructions, but maybe this helps?

hello Mike…
…there are a couple of books:
Downeast Netting from:

http://www.peasouppublishing.com/

and: Knots for Beachcombers and Mariners from:

http://www.angelfire.com/ak/skateworld/index.html

…you can get japanese glass floats on eBay…
…some of them can get expensive but they are nice!..

I found the directions for this application of netting in the book “Knots for Beachcombers and Mariners” by Ron Edwards.

Good pictures!
Looking at http://www.olypen.com/elgato/ballnets.htm shows warping onto a grommet, netting a cylinder, inserting the float and gathering the netting into a lanyard.

I prefer the method shown in the Ron Edwards book. One strand of cord is tied in a spiral around the float. No 12 pairs of cord ends to deal with.

Thanks Tony. Rather than try and reinvent the wheel, as it were, I just ordered that book. Unfortunately for my bank balance, I saw a couple of others as well, but hey…
