help tying knots for necklace

Hello.
I am new to knot tying and am looking forward to learning about knots that will be useful in making leather jewelry.

Andy from a Site about Nothing referred me to your website. I am making this leather corded/chain necklace, see photo:

http://www.sundancecatalog.com/product/handmade+jewelry/handmade+necklaces/pendant+necklaces/gemstone+tassel+leather+necklace.do?sortby=ourPicks#

I think the knots are double overhand sliding loop knots. So I have no problem tying knot#1, but am having difficulty trying to determine how to tie a ?secure? knot#2 which finishes the cording of the necklace.

Knot#1, which is first looped through a link of chain and is tied using one continuous piece of cord. Knot#2 on the other hand, uses two separate pieces of cord. I thought about tying knot#2 the same as knot#1 using one piece of cord, then insert the loose cord through the knot. This looks good, but if that loose cord is pulled it will come out of the knot unless it is glued which I?d rather not do.

I?m looking for guidance/instruction on how to tie a secured knot#2 or am open to using a different type of knot as long as it is ?attractive?.

Thank you in advance.

Hello lostknot17201 and welcome to the forum.

I suspect, having viewed the picture using your link, that this is a spliced piece of leather. I believe that I can see the splice just above the twig on the left side. A small horizontal line.
And since I can not see any cord ends anywhere I believe this confirms it enough for me.
I think that you would be happy with the look and adjustability of the double grapevine knot (slide knots).

Here’s a quick link to jewelry sites instructions for this. http://www.beadworksphiladelphia.com/Techniques/slideknot.pdf

Hope this helps.
