I talked to the contact distributing the International Knot Exhibition Catalogs. Knot organizations in Japan, Korea and China/Taiwan swap hosting duties. The next selected host arranges a venue and take participant/exhibitor applications. The next one will be held in June 2018 in Tokyo, Japan hosted by Japanese Knot Culture Society(日本結び文化学会). I’ve been given the name and email of the point person on this if you are interested.
A group from (Mainland) China joined for the first time last year. The organizing group seems to be a commercial company, though?? http://www.jieshengji.com.
The Korean group (Korean Maedup Association), sadly, does not have a website, although important members are online and can be contacted as seen here.
Has the Taiwan group disappeared? I don’t know, but I’ve asked that question. I’ll update when I find out.
Note that the Japanese Knot Culture Society is also interested in practical knots. There’s a tab in the main navigation of the site for ropework.
