Lee's Super 8 Loop & other nipping structure

“ A seen competition not just to invent knots but better knots” in my opinion.

From all these 3000 knots , that you are mentioning above, we should be able, through our interaction, to promote those 5 or ten which trully make a difference and serve better than known items.

If you point me to those five or ten, (or even more) which they trully make a difference, then i shall be the first to recommend them for entering into the hall of fame of knots :smiling_face_with_sunglasses: .

We both know that this is not going to happen .

You may follow the continuation of this reply, at a later time, to get my point.

Question:

Is there a knot, that has been presented in this forum, or found in some other book, which might stand worthy alongside the “king of knots” 1010 bowline knot structure?

The knot has to be of almost the same level of complexity with respect to the nipping/returning structure components, as well as approaching the save level of 1010’s functionality (stable and jam proof right up to the MBS yield point).
I would be glad to analyze any suggestions,

Hi Greg, thanks for your constructive comments. We are looking for better knots. That is why we are here.

The “King of knots” 1010 bowline” has the # 1 seat. Just wondering where to place my “Reroute Eskimo Bowline”?Here, I have two load-tested videos on my Reroute Eskimo Bowline.

It is three steps to tie the loop, two steps to untie, as simple as ‘King of knots’ and is a jam proof knot.

Below are two load tested videos.

Thank you Alan you were and you are a great asset, as well as one of the cornerstones of this forum.

If you wish to elaborate this concept here, more specifically, the answer to the question “is there a knot that might stand worthy alongside the bowline”, that’s fine by me, i also have a notable suggestion, let me know so as to delete the corresponding entry in the other thread.

The knot, shown in your testing videos, which you name “reroute eskimo bowline”, is known to me as a #1033 carrick variation, however, it does not appear in this form in Abok, the returning structure loop is flipped capturing the SP rather than the out going leg, as shown in your instance.

I also prefer this crossing knot form that you are testing, and it is generally known that it goes unblocked right up to the rapture point, but im glad you are also proving it.

Your peak load is about 56,7% of MBS but i’m sure it remains releasable till the yield point.

Testing other suchlike carrick variations, i believe you are going to get similar results.

Yes, this knot and its variations, is a serious contender to look the bowline straight in the eye maybe even take a seat next to it.

One more paradigm that shows the great potential of the crossing knots.

PS: The trick with the flashing eight is very impressive, i clearly see pure knotting talent in the new generation :+1:.

Hi all, I like this little bend. Hope you like it too. alanleeknot

Hi all, here are two more Enhanced Abok #1425 bends variations. They look good to me.

Enhanced #1425 bend (V1) has 3 ropes diameter on the nipping of both standing parts. Enhanced #1425 bend (V2) has a slight issue. When tying this bend, we need to give some slack on both tail collars. For easy untying after loading,

Thanks alanleeknots

Hi Alan

The bends you presented in the last post are found in my folder “My New Bends”.

Enhanced Abok#1425 V1 Bend is found the same as my bend “Red Bend” mentioned on 13/4/2019.

Enhanced Abok#1425 V2 Bend is found the same as my bend “Octoba Bend mentioned on 17/3/2020.

Hi Alan

You just presented three bends namely Lee’s Super 8 Bend, Lee’s Super 8-2 Bend and Lee’s Super 8-3 Bend. They are new to me. You may claim them as new discoveries. Should you post their tying methods?

yChan

Hi Alan

I have the Pia Cross Bend, in which as you said with the character “super 8”, mentioned in my folder “My New Bends” on 21/8/2017.
