Hi Chan, please be nice, show me all the details of all the bends that you are trying to claim.

Hi Alan

You can find the links in my posts of my 6 knotting folders in “Knotting Concepts & Explorations” under my user name “Siriuso”. Two folders namely “My New Bends” and “My Other Tying Methods of Some Known Knots”, in which you may find a lots of bends with different tying methods. I post this links to the forum (old forum) under the topic “New Knot Investigations” in 2017 and always update them as I input some bends (known and new discoveries) till now.

A few months ago I was advised by our moderator to move these posts to “Knotting Concepts & Explorations”. The other 4 knotting folders are my work related to knots and bends. Here the links are:

“Bends Classed By Starts”

“My New Bends”

“My Other Tying Methods of Some Known Knots” :

“About Bends”

“Bends Grouped By Appearances”

“My New Knots”

Everyone may find these folders useful to check bends whether it is new or known. There are a full lists of my new bends with discovery dates that I have had posted in the forum.

Hope you would find them useful in your creations.

Happy Knotting

In actual fact, there is no easy way to search through your work yChan.

This is why you are seeing potential duplication and “re-discoveries”.

Alan, just keep doing your good work .

The easiest way (in my view) is to just let yChan jump in with a counter-claim. Searching through his work is too tedious and time consuming and would distract from your own creativity.

Again, yChan wont hesitate to counter any of your claims of originality, and this is the simplest way of determining if your claim is original.

NOTE:

Only in the fullness of time will it be possible to reach a particular level of confidence in a claim. It takers time for people to do research - and there are so few people actually bothered with doing the ‘leg work’ to check and verify claims. We are literally talking about a small handful of people in the world who:

  • are motivated to present ‘new creations’ ; and

  • check and verify if claims are original.

My message: Just keep innovating and presenting your creations . We need people such as yourself Alan  Don’t worry about risk of duplication or re-discovery. If someone wishes to challenge your claim, they will and that’s fine!

Indeed:

Fundamentally, the title of this topic area is “New Knot Investigations”

The word “new” strongly implies an original creation.

That is, a person is posting under this topic heading because they have the hope of making a ‘new’ discovery worthy of presentation to their peers in this forum. The intent being to make a claim of originality.

There has been some dissent from a few individuals that there are no awards handed out for new discoveries, and some have even gone so far as to claim that knots have always existed and therefore no human can make a claim of originality. I reject this notional concept.

Human creativity and innovation is crucial to our existence as a species - it is part of who we are as a species. If we did not innovate or create, we would likely risk going extinct. Think of the medical advances that have been made, think of the invention of the internet which enables us to communicate instantly anywhere in the world, and electricity which powers many of our inventions.

Knot tying is part science and part art - the union of two fields. It is like a chess game in the sense that endless new beautiful combinations are waiting to be discovered … A piece of cord/rope by itself does not have consciousness, it is human consciousness that turns the cord/rope into a geometric creation.

Hi Mark, Thanks for your reply :+1: :+1: :+1:

Hi Chan, all the way along, when you ask me to give you the name of my knots, I always keep ignoring you, because I don’t feel like you don’t have the right place for my knots. By the way, don’t worry about my knots, I can add them to YouTube.

Having said all this, that doesn't mean that I don't respect your excellent method of creating knots. Less effort and unexpected things turn out some good knots. But the bad thing is you are living in your own knotting world.

Also, at that moment, I felt like I was being kicked out. Chat next time. thanks alanleeknots.
