I made this door mat from 3/4" manila rope 40 years ago as a present for my mother and father-in-law. My wife and I now have it and can’t seem to wear it out. That is a very durable mat.
Some things just last and last. I bet it stays put too.
Was it treated with anything? Are any of the crossings sewn to each other? How were the ends terminated?
Thanks for sharing Tony!

The mat has no special treatment but I do remember that the manila had an oily feel when I made the mat. I whipped the ends with a waxed linen thread and tied each end to its neighboring strand with the same twine using a constrictor knot.
It is already really rare door mat. He can be offered for auction.
