Mass teaching tips

Long ago, at an event with other guild members, I was given a paper with instructions for an ocean plat. The knot was laid out with the occasional dot and you were instructed to poke holes in the paper and simply follow along from one dot to the next to tie your knot. I use that idea whenever possible to provide training wheels for kids and such. The problem, if you can’t pre-perforate the holes with a hole punch or the like, is what to do with the cord end so that it will cleanly go through the holes? If you can’t provide a needle, bodkin, or make self-needles with glue or heat, what can you do? I have only just realized at this late date, that a little scotch tape will do the trick! Apply tape to the end of the cord, form it into a cylinder, twist it shut and cut the end to a point.

Quick, easy, cheap. Useful “tools” that can be used with small children. Expandable to any class size or provided at events.

Had to look up corflute. Had no idea the plastic version of corrugated cardboard was corflute! Learn something new every day. 8)

Don’t know if it’s cheaper or not, but it’s likely easier to source? My suggestion is to go to the dollar store and get cheap cork trivets. Last I paid any attention, Ikea also sells a pack of 3 fairly cheap.

Hey, this forum is all about sharing the wisdom, right? 8)

‘corflute’ sometimes called ‘real estate sign’

yes i had cork board in mind, but didn’t have any,
and had more nails and corflute than anything else!

also, fortunately the nails i had in the right height were ‘tack’ top,
(i don’t know the shop name),
helps keep the cord from springing up
