Hi my real name is Stew, I live in Northumberland (Great Britain), I am a retired fireman (I retired with an ill health pension in 2010), I am married with two married daughters and four grandchildren, I’m 56 years old, my main hobby is woodworking but I’m restricted to how many hours I spend doing this due to a few spinal problems I have, I have a memory like a sieve and I enjoy tying knots in cordage.
Introduction over! Mods please move if it’s in the wrong place.
Oh nearly forgot, I’m a bit of a joker (smiling and laughing is easier than frowning)

Welcome aboard, Stew! One thing I enjoy is mixing knotting with my woodworking. I recently made a gavel for my son (he is President of his College Fraternity) and I decorated the handle with his school colors and his house colors. Unfortunately, the head of the gavel developed a crack, so we are figuring out a replacement. The work never ends.
I live in Seattle, Washington, USA, and we share a similar background. I used to be a volunteer firefighter, and I too enjoy smiling much more than frowning. It leaves much friendlier line on my face.

Hi Stew! My name is Barbie and I am currently a Perennial Grower at a large retail nursery. My favorite thing to do with rope is splicing three strand (only because I can’t find four or six strand rope easily or affordably). I do all sorts of other knotting as well (mostly decorative and items for gifts). But my favorite is splicing. However I have not really found a need or manufactured use for splices other than eye splices but that doesn’t stop it from being my favorite. Glad to have you with us :).

Hey Barbie ,
You ever thought about looking at doing some ringbolt hitching on your eye splices and even some decorative whipping work over your splices, really looks great has better market value i sell them for shop decor etc there very popular- just a thought.
