Slipped constrictor knot

Hi
I’m posting this on behalf of Derek Wright. If you have comments please reply to him on aqualune@iafrica.com.
Attached is a photo of a claimed new slipped version of the normal constrictor knot. Please advise him if he is the first to tie it.

I don’t recall ever seeing this sparticular slipped version before - but equally I cannot see any advantage in slipping both ends which seems awkward to tie so it may be Derek is the first person to tie it but I wonder why? Anyone see an easy way to tie this?

“Slipping” is a generic amendment to almost any knot to ease or initiate the untying of that knot. I don’t think it can be considered new or unique or even safe in certain situations.

I concur in the sentiments expressed above --re not having
seen it, but then slipping is a well-known possibility, and
why slip it thus, might it even be dangerous, and so on.

In fact, slipping it thus does one thing : leaves the knot TIB
–for whatever that’s worth. (The symmetric slipping would not.)

Given the asymmetry shown, one might take this moment
to explore whether one way or the other seems better (= easier
to pull loose) !? --perhaps the lower tail, as presented?
