Splicing double braided nylon

Is there a course or some instruction out there for splicing double braided nylon line? I think it would certainly be a good skill to have. In the electrical industry most of the line is double braided. If a new eye is needed, it goes back to someone who does it for us. Thanks.

http://www.neropes.com/SPL_DoubleEyeSplice.aspx is an instruction sheet produced by New England Ropes. That is the first link of over 27,000 found when I entered “double braid eye splice” in the search box (or Google).

You might check with the rope manufacturer(s) for instructions for the particular rope(s);
such splicing is pretty commonplace, as noted above.

The process is fairly straightforward - you take the core out of the cover, you tuck the core back inside the cover at a crossover and the cover inside the core at the same point, then slip the whole core/cover sleeve back inside the cover and stitch to complete.

Yeah, what Squarerigger said! ::slight_smile: ::slight_smile: ::slight_smile:

Check out this webpage, it has good pictures. And you could add the suggested stitching.

Thanks SS,

The suggested web-page is for hollow or single braid line not double braid line. However, it does show that you need to put a threading tool into the line to assist with putting the core inside the cover and cover inside the core.

YW Square, thought that the pics would be of value.
