Anyone have any info on tying a wide barber pole knot? I can some things on tall ones but nothing on wide ones. But ive been a few pictures of them.
The barber pole is among the simplest knots out there. To scale it up, there is only your own mind to overcome.
In the attached picture the basic rules are displayed. The base knot is merely a winding. You need as many bights as you wish. Leave room between them for the interweave(s). Do note that the final effect of the “screw pattern” is opposite that of the base winding.
Start the interweave by laying it in the “cradle”, that is formed by the base windings surface layer, resting on top of its own bottom layer.
The interweave is doing its return at the bottom of both windings. Every time it comes to “self”, invert the threading. Or make like a dolphin and jump over top self …
With these rules, you can put more interweaves on the knot. There are no other rules.
