I am making a claim of originality for the ‘XT’ Butterfly.
Originally tied and presented 22 August 2024.
It is easy to tie, just one more step beyond a regular Butterfly.
Works well with softer/supple ropes (in stiffer ropes, your mileage may vary).
I’m fine if someone steps forward and makes a counter-claim.
Only in the fullness of time will historical evidence be revealed. EDIT NOTE:
Its becoming difficult to search this forum for historical photos.
Many of Xarax’s historical images are dead - cant view them anymore.
This makes it difficult to thoroughly check before making claims…
I am posting this claim based on encouragement from knot master Xarax - who contacted me a while back to say that he never tied it
himself and felt that is was ‘new’.
What would you say to my making a claim for the XU (XT+1)
Butterfly --what you show but with an(other) X-tra tuck?
–or one where the X-tra tuck ran around in the opposite direction?!
May I claim “X+n” and get the entire lot?
Then comes (in the logic of this vary-parts-of-tying-method exploration)
the XWrap variation --i.e., going around before tucking out, putting
some coil/wrap around the S.Parts :: will this improve the not-so-good
performance seen in HowNoTo videos?!
.:. It is a breaking loose of bounds of thinking (per Ashley’s most
unfortunately uttered quote) “a knot is never nearly right : it is
either exactly right or hopelessly wrong…”, and bringing into
traditional settings various knot-forming mechanisms as they
might find useful work.
Hi Dan,
Sure you claim anything you want, can you not just keep it for yourself.
Please share with us your picture knots
I always bring in my new good-looking picture knots for you to see.
I think it is fair enough to ask for one. thanks alanleeknots.
